Absolutely love this shampoo bar!
I have been using this shampoo bar for a couple of years now and absolutely love it. The bar lathers effectively, has a fresh smell, cleans my hair well, is all natural and comes with no packaging. It is a wonderful product!
I wanted to love it but it’s an all over fail for me!
I’m only writing this review because before I purchase this product I purposefully read all the reviews to make sure that through things we’re not gonna happen. 1.) I wanted to Make sure the bar didn’t smell super “crunchy”. 2.) Wanted to make sure it actually does what it says and cleaned the hair. 3.) I I wanted to make sure there wasn’t gonna be a bunch of oily build up on my hair. The reviews promised 5 stars on all these issues. NOPE. I’m sure many people of the snow, I can’t stand it… Very reminiscent of my grandmas perfume products… maybe lavender? Not my jam. Also I can’t say if I did or didn’t clean my hair… But it doesn’t feel like I did. However, it left my hair so oily and greasy and I instantly angry, and wanted to rehash my hair with my tried and true shampoo. I did leave it though just so I could See how my hair reacted when dry and it’s not better. Very weighted down, very oily, dry limp looking. I don’t get it. I don’t think I used it wrong…. But how can all the reviews be good and my experience be so bad!! Can’t wait to rehash my hair tomorrow. Sucks that it was $20 down the drain.
A Drop in the Ocean
Hi Christine - I'm sorry to hear the shampoo bar isn't working for you. As with any hair care product, sometimes what works for one person's hair won't work for another's; but the good news is we do have two types of shampoo bars and a liquid shampoo, so ideally we've got something for everyone! A couple of suggestions: (1) Try using less shampoo. I find that with the bar I only need a small amount to work. (2) Give it a few days to a week or so. I find that my hair takes some time to adjust when I switch between liquid and bar shampoo, in either direction. (3) Our clarifying conditioner might be a great addition to your hair care routine, too! I didn't even know I needed a clarifying product until I tried it, and my hair has never felt so healthy in my life. If you could add some detail about the type of hair you have, that would also be really beneficial for future EcoWarriors who are looking at this product in the future.
After ditching shampoo in plastic bottles, I was using baking soda/apple cider vinegar. It was fine, but I felt my hair drying out. I decided to try out the shampoo and conditioner bars as another non-plastic alternative. I love them! They feel and smell great, and my hair feels a lot softer.
Great shampoo bar
I love this shampoo bar! I love the smell and how it cleans my hair. I have oils straight hair, so I have to be careful about adding too many oils to my hair. This product keeps my hair healthy, yet not oily
Ideal for fine hair
Paired with the Conditioner Bar, this shampoo works better for fine hair than ANYTHING I have ever found in a store or salon. The bars took some getting used to, but I notice a nicer, more controlled texture with my very fine hair. (Other shampoo / conditioner combos leave it limp and I often reach for extra product to get lift / control). Such a good find, and plastic-free! I'm a convert.

Our commitment to sustainability doesn't end when you press that checkout button.
We pack all of our orders in reused boxes and envelopes, with reused paper packaging, post-consumer recycled paper labels, and even paper tape.
You may not get an IG-worthy unboxing, but you will get the most sustainable packaging we can possibly find.
Oh and did we mention our shipping is always carbon negative?
Let's go to the real winner in my eyes. Honestly, I could have purchased this exact razor many other places, but the packaging A Drop in the Ocean uses to ship will have me coming back time and time gain.
My first purchase from them was some floss a while ago and it arrived in a reused tea box with a hand written note that was written on scrap paper. I was blown away.
I had never seen a company who claimed to be sustainable ACTUALLY prove to be sustainable through and through. The fact that every piece of the packaging was reused and minimal will have me come back over and over again. If I can purchase it here, I will purchase it here.
