Ingredients (Shave Soap Bar)
Shea Butter, Babassu Oil, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide, Coconut Milk
Care (Safety Razor)
Store in a dry spot between uses. Got rust? Soak in vinegar and baking soda and wipe clean. For a more detailed care guide, check out our Safety Razor Care + Maintenance 101 guide.
Packaging + End of Life
This razor should last many years to come, but should it need retiring, the entire razor can be recycled with metal recycling. The razor is packaged in a hemp travel bag, which can be home composted.
Razor blades can be returned to Albatross for recycling. Details can be found here. If you're in Tacoma, you can return to blades to us, and we'll send them back to Albatross for you. Do not put blades in your curbside recycling bin, as that is a hazard for the people working in the recycling facility.
The shave soap bar will either be unpackaged or wrapped in reused kraft paper, which can be home composted.

The safety razor and blades are sourced from Berkeley, California. The shave soap bar is handmade right here in Tacoma, Washington.

Chin hasn’t felt this smooth since puberty!
This is a perfect gift because everything from the packaging to the product itself is satisfying! You feel oldtimey using a steel razor. BUT THEN you also feel the closest shave you’ve ever had. Why did we even start making disposable razors?!

Love these blades.
I was trying to be cheap and bought some flimsy blades for my safety razor on Amazon and they were crap and got dull so fast. These ones are so much better and last way longer! Definitely my new go-to.

It takes practice
Compared to disposable plastic razors, I get an incredibly close shave with this safety razor. I did get knicks the first three times & only kept going because I really want to reduce plastic use. As the tutorial video says, it’s important to be at 30 degrees, pull skin taut, use quick, short strokes. I appreciate that I can recycle the blades directly through Drop in the Ocean. Tha shave bar is just ok. It got kind of scratchy a few uses in, and the lather dissipated too fast. I get better results using my bar hair conditioner.

Loving the utilitarian-ness of this.
So far so good! I love the close shave I can get with this, and that the refills are just razor blades that can be recycled. (I also use razor blades for bread-scoring, so it's extra nice to know about the recycling options). Like a lot of other folks, it's taking me a bit to adjust my shaving habits and get the angle right. Another concern I've seen is that there's less grip on the handle of the razor. For me, it's not just that there's less grip, but also that the razor is quite weighty. So I've been nervous to try shaving while standing in the shower where I'll need to compete more with gravity, (as opposed to a shallow bath or the edge of the tub), and there's more leg to pass by/potentially cut, should I drop the razor. Yesterday, though, I had the idea to add some grip back by wrapping a rubber band around the handle of the razor, and it definitely helped and gave me the confidence to try things standing up! Of course, this now isn't a 100% no-waste option, but we have rubber bands just come into our life via veggies or whatever, so I think it's a good reuse option. I'm not sure yet if this is going to be a pain to dry out, or if I'll just be able to remove the band once in a while.

So glad I finally made the switch!
After years of disappointment with disposable razors, I finally decided to give the safety razor a try, despite the intimidation of dealing with razor blades. And I am SO HAPPY I finally tried it! After watching both your tutorials and those from Albatross, I have learned the shaving technique and haven't injured myself once! My legs are smoother than they have ever been, and the lather from the shave soap is luxurious. I never thought I would enjoy shaving until now!
