Life deserves little luxuries, and lemme tell ya…this is one of them. Made from ultra-soft, all-natural hemp fibers, these reusable “cotton” rounds are the best addition to any skincare routine. A note from Krystina: I’ve been using more “conventional” flannel cotton rounds for years now, and while I never really had any qualms with them, after testing out these hemp facial rounds…omgosh there is no comparison. These babies are so incredibly soft, durable, and plush. On more than one occasion since using these I’ve almost gone to bed without washing my face, but then I remember that I get to use these pads, and genuinely look forward to taking a few extra moments before bed for self-care, rather than viewing it as something I have to do.

Size

Each hemp “cotton” pad measures approximately 3.25” in diameter. 

Materials

Made from sustainable hemp fibers. The included wash bag is made from 100% cotton.

(*) Please note: The thread used on these “cotton” rounds is currently made of nylon, which is obviously not ideal. I’ve spoken with my vendor, and she’s already working with her manufacturing partner to switch over to cotton thread instead. The exact timeline of this switch is a bit uncertain, but it is currently scheduled for sometime around November. I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to get the cotton thread version of these in time for shipping out Holiday Pre-Sale orders, but I cannot guarantee it right now. I will keep you posted as timelines develop!

Care

Wash before first use.

After use, rinse the pads with cool water (optional, but recommended if you’re using them for makeup removal!). Machine wash in cold water with a natural laundry detergent. We recommend air drying to maintain softness and durability.

Packaging + End of Life

These reusable hemp “cotton” rounds will come completely unpackaged in a 100% cotton mesh wash bag. With proper care, these pads should last you many, many years to come, but when they do ultimately reach the end of their life, they can be backyard composted(*).

(*) Please see note above under “Materials.” If we are unable to get these with cotton thread before Holiday Pre-Sale orders ship, before disposing of these pads, the thread should be removed and thrown away. If the thread is cotton, the whole thing can be composted.

So on top of all the things we mentioned above about what makes our sisal soap saver bags so sustainable, here’s a few other things you should know:

• We’re actually practicing what we preach behind the scenes. Each year, we track and record all of our trash, and even wrote a whole blog post on it. The tl;dr version is this: on average, we produce less than 0.5 pounds of trash each month. Everything from the packaging our products come in down to the Sharpie we use to write “Fragile” on your box is zero waste to its core.
• We’re an online-only zero waste store - which is highly intentional. It may seem counter-intuitive, but online shopping is actually more sustainable than in-person. I’m a data nerd at heart and I love diving into the research, and there are countless studies that have shown that online shopping is the most sustainable way to get your everyday essentials. • We ship ugly boxes. Your order from A Drop in the Ocean is not going to arrive in a pretty, branded box. It’s gonna show up in a reused tea box, or a donated Amazon box, or maybe even an inside-out Girl Scout Cookies box. All of our shipping materials are always 100% plastic-free and reused as much as possible, with curbside-recyclable paper tape and a post-consumer recycled paper shipping label. It won’t be pretty, but it will be zero waste.
