✨ Complete the Routine

✨ Our next batch of Spearmint toothpaste will include Nano-Hydroxyapatite! We've updated the product description below and will update the photos as soon as we get the new batch in-hand. ✨

Across the globe, more than one billion plastic toothpaste tubes are thrown away each year. This all-natural toothpaste will leave your mouth minty, fresh, and clean — and keep the planet a bit cleaner, too. Packaged in an aluminum tube rather than plastic, this toothpaste is the easiest way to upgrade your eco-friendly oral care routine.

Size

Our vendor has recently switched all of their packaging to 4oz tubes, rather than the 5.25oz tubes we've been selling for the past several years. As of April 29, 2026, we still have one 5.25oz tube of Peppermint with Nano-Hydroxyapatite in stock. Once that tube sells, all of the tubes will be 4oz moving forward.

Each tube contains 5.25oz of toothpaste.

Ingredients

Spearmint (w/ Nano-Hydroxyapatite): Calcium Carbonate (Limestone Abrasive), Vegetable Glycerin, Purified Water, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Xylitol (Birch Derived), Hydrated Silica, Hydroxyapatite (Nano), Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Carrageenan (Seaweed Derived), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Mentha Gracilis (Scotch Spearmint) Oil, Mentha Spicata Herb (Spearmint) Oil, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Orange) Peel Oil, Stevia (Leaf Extract)

Peppermint w/ Nano-Hydroxyapatite: Calcium Carbonate (Limestone Abrasive), Vegetable Glycerin, Purified Water, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Xylitol (Birch Derived), Hydrated Silica, Hydroxyapatite, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Carrageenan (Seaweed Derived), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint Oil), Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Pimpinella Anisum (Anise) Seed Extract, Gaultheria Procumbens (Wintergreen) Leaf Oil, Stevia (Leaf Extract)

What is Nano-Hydroxyapatite?

Nano-hydroxyapatite is a natural fluoride alternative, first developed and used by NASA in 1970 in response to astronauts returning from space with mineral loss in their teeth and bones. In toothpaste, hydroxyapatite reduces teeth sensitivity, improves enamel health by filling and repairing microscopic pits and scratches on the enamel surface, removes plaque, and remineralizes and restores enamel.

To Use

Use this toothpaste just like you would a plastic-packaged tube of toothpaste.

Packaging + End of Life

Each tube is packaged in a cardboard tube, which can be recycled in curbside paper recycling.

The tubes themselves are aluminum, which may be recyclable where you live. Always check your guidelines first! Check out this video for how to properly recycle your tube — and remember: empty, clean, and dry matters.

The plastic cap is, unfortunately, trash.

If you live in Tacoma, these tubes are not recyclable.

🌎 You care about the planet. So do we.

Look. I get it. It’s HARD to be an EcoWarrior. Someone who cares about the planet and wants the most sustainable products available - from the ingredients to the packaging to the way that product gets to your hands.

It seems like everywhere we turn, someone, somewhere, is greenwashing us.

But our superpower at A Drop in the Ocean is sorting through the BS, calling it out, and making sure our products are the absolute most sustainable and truly zero waste products we can find.

So on top of all the things we mentioned above about what makes our plastic-free natural toothpaste so sustainable, here’s a few other things you should know:

  • We’re actually practicing what we preach behind the scenes. ach year, we track and record all of our trash, and we even wrote a whole blog post on it. The tl;dr version is this: on average, we produce less than 0.5 pounds of trash each month. Everything from the packaging our products come in down to the Sharpie we use to write “Fragile” on your box is zero waste to its core.
  • We’re an online-only zero waste store - which is highly intentional. It may seem counter-intuitive, but online shopping is actually more sustainable than in-person. I’m a data nerd at heart and I love diving into the research, and there are countless studies that have shown that online shopping is the most sustainable way to get your everyday essentials. Don’t believe me? Check out our whole blog post on the sustainability of online shopping.
  • We ship ugly boxes. Your order from A Drop in the Ocean is not going to arrive in a pretty, branded box. It’s gonna show up in a reused tea box, or a donated Amazon box, or maybe even an inside-out Girl Scout Cookies box. All of our shipping materials are always 100% plastic-free and reused as much as possible, with curbside-recyclable paper tape and a post-consumer recycled paper shipping label. It won’t be pretty, but it will be zero waste.

Got more questions about our zero waste products or our practices behind the scenes? Just send us an email! I’m always happy to chat all things eco.

You may not get an IG-worthy unboxing, but you will get the most sustainable packaging we can possibly find.

Trust it’s good

The toothpaste was shipped to my daughter and she not at all good with feedback but I haven’t heard anything negative. One request tho would you have an auto ship available or even a reminder when it may be time to reorder. Sheer a big problem not having it. Thank you.

A Drop in the Ocean

I'm so glad to hear your daughter is liking the toothpaste! And the good news is we do have an auto-ship option! On the product page, just click the "Subscribe + Save 10%" button just above the "Add to Bag" button and you can choose how often you want it shipped automatically. And once you have the subscription set up, you can adjust the frequency, pause, or skip shipments at any time, so you're never locked into anything!

Great toothpaste- Made in the USA

I love this new found toothpaste! The flavor is great, but not overpowering. It leaves your mouth/teeth feeling clean and refreshed. The aluminum tube is great, and the 'key' ensures you get every last drop. Made in the USA, by a small family owned company! For people who are used to 'traditional' chemical laden toothpaste, this will not lather up like they do, but I enjoy David's much more.

So good!

If you do are looking for fluoride free toothpaste, consider this a 5 star review. The taste and texture of this toothpaste is great and I love the packaging. However, I do prefer fluoride in my toothpaste, so that's the only reason I can't give it a 5 star review.

Our EcoWarriors also love...
