Workshop: DIY Beeswax Wraps
Are you ready to break up with plastic wrap?
Did you know that in the United States, the average person wastes over 180 pounds of food each year? This equates to about $650 spent each year, per household, just on wasted food. When over 12% of households in the United States are food insecure, these numbers just don't add up.
Save your food from the bin! Beeswax wraps are the ultimate food storage tool. Wrap up that other avocado half, or cover your kid's plate of leftovers. Activated with the heat of your hands, beeswax wraps create a strong seal on itself or on another surface, keeping food fresh longer.
Join us on November 17 at Red Elm Cafe to make your own stunning beeswax wraps! We'll provide all of the materials, including Tacoma-local beeswax and PNW-themed organic cotton fabric - just bring your beautiful self.
You'll leave our time together with a set of three beeswax wraps, and a new skill to continue building your collection.
As always, 1% of your registration total will be donated to ocean conservation, and 10 trees will be planted on your behalf.
Space is limited, so please pre-register!
Registration is on a sliding scale, $10 / $15 / $20.
